MGM's
Soul Plane landed in
theaters around the country in May, kicking
the summer movie season into high gear. The
buzz for "the
first airline with soul" began months before
take-off when UMCA deployed
Soul Plane flight attendants to make the rounds
at major airports in New
York, Houston, Atlanta
and DC, distributing flyers
to potential moviegoers. UMCA then launched a
national promotion, the Soul
Plane Slam, where
the
most
talented poets and rappers along with the
funniest comedians came together at night
clubs in New York ,
LA, ,Miami, Chicago, Atlanta, Detroit, Philadelphia,
DC, Houston and Dallas to win a cash prize in a soul
themed talent contest.
