For the second year in row, UMCA served as the live event producer for the Nike Battlegrounds one-on-one basketball competition.  Last year, Nike Battlegrounds King of the Court toured 4 cities and crowned the national champion in New York.  This year, the competition expanded to include players from Paris, Italy,
Barcelona and Germany competing against US players from Los Angeles, New York, Chicago and Philadelphia.  The preliminary match ups aired as

half hour shows on MTV2 and the championship was a one hour special.  The King of the World Championship, hosted by John Salley, was an invitation-only event with celebs and NBA players and featured live performances by Fat Joe, Lil Flip and Freeway.  This year's 'King of the World' is Amara Sy from Paris.  He beat last year's national King of the Court champion from Los Angeles Erron Maxey, King of Philly Andre Howard and King of New York Junie Sanders.
