UMCA has been secured by Nike's western region brand marketing group to lead its basketball strategy and marketing efforts in Los Angeles. To launch the new Vince Carter shoe in the spring, UMCA extended Nike's NBA All Star Game Weekend program previously held in Washington, DC (2001) and Philadelphia (2002) 'The People's Jam' to Los Angeles. The event included a retail promotion in over 30 locations, a media buy, a high school dance competition and dunk contest. The highlight of the event was a special performance by Snoop Dogg and Bootsy Collins. This summer, to launch Nike's new line of sports inspired off court gear 'Battlegrounds', UMCA has developed Venice Beach's first ever outdoor basketball league. The league participants are former and current NBA players, overseas hoopers, streetball legends and 'young guns'. Typical to the SoCal lifestyle, we have also integrated entertainment, house DJs, play-by-play personalities and other 'lifestyle' elements. Also, UMCA will be conducting a secret one-on-one hoop tournament that will feature the top 32 hoopers in LA on center stage in front of a select group of celebrities, entertainers, influencers and hoop aficionados.
